Fortune Cookie Maker was an unpredictable hot toy for 2012.
With the new purchase of the Lego Harry Potter Hagrid’s Hut I not only gained a new Lego set but I experienced loads of fun and felt like I was reliving the epic novel by J.K. Rowling. This recreation of the giant’s home contained four-hundred forty-two pieces. This amazing set comes complete with four of the most essential characters, Harry, Ron, Hermione, and of course Hagrid. The set also includes the mother spider and three of her little spider babies.
The hut which is the main piece of this whole setting is extremely detailed on the inside and out. The outside of the detailed building is covered with extravagant colors and patterns. The shape of the hut alone is a strict replica of the home described in the books and seen in the movies. The brick pattern stickers are realistic and to the point. The door has the wood pattern, and on top of the door are two owls waiting and watching everyone enter and exit the hut.
On the inside of the hut is everything any harry potter fan can remember from the boiling cauldron to little dragon that Hagrid started to raise. The most interesting attraction inside the hut though is the fireplace. And for an extra kick it includes a brick that lights up so Hagrid can really cook.
The large mother spider has a printed face brick instead of a sticker so the mean and tricky expression never changes just like in the movie. As well as the spider the rest of the characters also have extremely detailed characteristics. Ron, Harry, and Hermione all are dressed in their Gryffindor robes with their wands at the ready. Hagrid has his infamous pink umbrella and the cross bow which he uses so often.
I love this harry Potter set because the house can open and close, so when ever you want to play with the set you can open the hut in to two connected rooms and experience the world of magic and adventure for yourself, and when you wish to return to the mortal world you can just close the hut and put it away for easy storage.
This harry potter set cost $39.99. Have fun playing!

I went out and grabbed my daughter Lucy a “Crumbs Sugar Cookie” Lalaloopsy doll at Toys R Us the other day and they have since been inseparable!
If you aren’t familiar (though I’m sure you are) Lalaloopsy (the doll formerly known as Bitty Buttons) is THE hot toy of the season. They have graced the Hot Toy Lists of many, including zooLert and with good reason.
Sporting big button Coraline-esque eyes they are creepy and endearing at the same time! The story behind the big eyed beauties is that they were made out of a mishmash of fabrics which created their personalities – for instance Pillow Feather Bed was made out of pieces of a baby blanket and she enjoys being read to and cuddling with her pet sheep! And once the last stitch was stitched they magically came alive.
One of the things I really like about these dolls is that their birthdays (or Sew Days) are actual holidays. For example: Crumbs Sugar Cookie’s Sewday is December 4th – National Cookie Day, Bea Spells-A-Lot’s is October 16th – National Dictionary Day. It makes for a fun way to celebrate some of the more obscure holidays that you may not think about…So go ahead and have a an “out of this world party” for Dot Starlight while teaching your little star gazer about the first moon landing!
You can also pick up some new threads for your Lalaloopsies!
Some things you should know:
The hair isn’t hair – It’s hard plastic. This is good and bad. Good because it makes the doll easy to keep clean. Bad because the doll isn’t very “cuddly”.
They are a little on the heavy side…again…not so good for sleeping buddies.
The eyes are not actually sewn on which means no choking hazard!
If you’re planning on buying this be warned – They are sold out everywhere! Be sure to track them with zooLert!!
These dolls are “cool” – according to my daughter Lucy! Check out her video review!
Quick note about the pictures. You’ll notice the name of the doll is Bitty Buttons. This is the old name and it was changed due to legal matters. Most boxes with Bitty Buttons on them have been taken off the shelves and replaced with new stickers or supply.
It comes with a booklet with 17 different ideas. There are instructions for some of the ideas but no exact measurements. Still, it helps when trying to figure out what to build.
The “kid wood” is a squishy but firm styrofoam type material. The tools which are harmless really do cut the “wood” quite easily. When you screw in the screws they actually stay in…they don’t just slide right out like I had expected.
In my opinion the quality is a lot higher than I anticipated! The intended use is for kids 6 and up and I think that’s pretty accurate!
Overall its really a great buy. It’s educational in the sense that you’re measuring, using small motor skills and problem solving. It also gave my son a lot pride to show us all the things he built by himself!
