Each mound of …poo… is filled with different food items depending on what type of dinosaur its from. Kids dig through, piece together the food and form a hypothesis about what type of dinosaur it is. The food (bones and leaves) can also be used to make fossils!

Yes, you too can bring the PBS Kids TV show to life. In poop form. Food included.

CONTEST OVER : Giveaway – Mega Bloks Domino Build Game – Preschool Fun!

Mega Bloks Domino Build Game is a game geared towards preschoolers with an emphasis on learning skills such as colors, numbers, matching, and motor skills.

What is this game all about?

Mega Bloks combines the matching skills of dominoes with familiar Mega Bloks that kids love. Each child picks his character that he wants to be – either a lion, giraffe, elephant or polar bear. Then each child chooses two domino cards from the pile. The children each take turns trying to match the animals on the  domino cards. Every time he/she makes a match they get to pick a Mega Blok from the pile. The goal is to be the first to build your animal using Mega Bloks.

I’m really looking forward to seeing more from this line. I would love to see a Mega Bloks Domino that focus on letters and numbers too…hopefully there is something like this in the works.

The Hands On Video:

In the video is my nephew Tommy and my son Tommy. My nephew is 3 and really had a blast. My son on the other hand is a little older (5, almost 6) and wasn’t fully engaged by it. This isn’t too surprising as he is on the upper scale of the intended age group. But, he was a good sport anyway!

Things We Love!

  • The game moves fast so kids don’t get bored! Only four blocks make up an animal so the kids don’t lose interest too quickly.
  • Fun and educational. Kids learn all sorts of skills including colors, matching and counting. It’s also good practice of motor skills.
  • A great beginner board game. Kids at this age are just starting to get into board games. This is a great, simple game to help kids master taking turns and good sportsmanship.

What’s In The Box??

  • 16 Mega Bloks (builds 4 animals)
  • 30 Domino Tiles
  • 4 Character cards with zoo animals to match the blocks
  • Directions

Go Crazy with Glow Crazy! Hands On Video Review

What kid do you know that doesn’t love glow in the dark toys and coloring?  Now add that to being able to color on the walls  (from up to 10ft away) and you’ve got Glow Crazy!

What Is This Toy All About?

Glow crazy uses a light wand that beams light from up to ten feet away to make it’s mark on the reusable canvas decal. Check out the video below to see exactly how it works!

*While watching the video please be aware it is brighter in real life.  Capturing the video for the review and letting just enough light in to see at all was a big balancing act.

BONUS : The commercial from New Zeland :

Things We Love!

  • No mess! (OK thats more of a thing I love…Tommy doesn’t really care about that one!)
  • The canvas decals stick on the walls, ceiling and windows but do no damage. They stay stuck for the most part and peel of with no trouble…So if you’re worried about your little one staying up all night playing just take the canvas off the wall!
  • You can draw free hand or use stencils.
  • Gives your kids (or yourself) a new and creative way of showing off their artistic abilities!
  • Dual action Light Wand – make wide beams or thin beams.

Moon Dough Magic Zoo Review – Abracadabra, Walk!

When we were introduced to Moon Dough Magic Barnyard a few months back I knew it would be a big winner in our house! We’ve since received the Moon Dough Magic Zoo and again Spin Master didn’t disappoint.

What Is This Toy All About?

The Moon Dough Magic Zoo lets you create three different zoo animals that actually walk! Check out the video!

The Hands On Video:

Things We Love!

  • Gets your kids away from the TV and into some creative play! With all the snow, ice and cold weather it can be hard to keep your kids entertained 24/7!  With Moon Dough in your arsenal of mom approved playtime they’ll have a harder time saying “we’re booooored!”
  • No need to buy extra parts! There is nothing worse than opening a box and realizing that you either can’t play with it as is or that it won’t be as much fun if you don’t run out and buy $10 worth of “accessories”! The box includes everything you need to use the toy to its full potential! I’ll list exactly what comes in it in the “What’s In The Box??” section!
  • Moon Dough never dries out! …EVER! In our last Moon Dough review we left it sitting out for days and we had no issues!
  • Wheat-free and hypoallergenic for sensitive little hands!
  • NO BATTERIES!! I love any toy that doesn’t make me run around stealing batteries from various remotes and toys!

What’s In The Box??

EVERYTHING! More specifically…

  • Three zoo animal molds! Gorilla, penguin and bear.
  • Three packs of Moon Dough! Orange, purple and white.
  • One Popper fence mold.
  • Two wind up feet. One orange and one purple!
  • Zoo with magic door to make the animals come alive!
  • Stickers to decorate the zoo.
  • Directions.

Some things you should know.

As I mentioned in our last Moon Dough review it can make a mess…but it cleans up very easily. My kids play with it on the dining room table and get it all over my upholstered chairs and wood floors. I just brush it off the chair (even when it’s been smooshed in) and sweep it up off the floor. Super easy.

We did find that the speed at which you turn the crank and how much you “pack in” the moon dough is related to your end result.  Getting the technique down however didn’t stop Tommy from playing with it for a good 45 minutes this afternoon!

Age Range

3 Years and Up

Price range

You can pick it up at a MSRP of $20.00

Since it’ a new toy, it is just starting to roll out, but, expect to find it very soon at AmazonWalmartTargetToys R Us, and more!!

RATUKI – A Fast, Fun, Family Card Game Review

Ratuki is a game of speed and excitement!

Here’s how you play …but I have to first start off by saying I am the WORST at reading directions for games! That being said…I had a really hard time figuring out how to play – but once I did it was a blast!

Each player starts with 35 colored cards with the numbers 1 through 5 represented by various number symbols, roman numerals and words (Spanish & English). Once everyone has their cards someone yells Ratuki! and then the game begins! All the players simultaneously race against each other to put the cards in ascending and descending order. Anytime you put down a 5 (on your pile or someone else’s) you get to snatch the stack! The point of the game is get rid off all your cards and collect the most stacks. Once the first person is out of cards the game ends. The person with the most collected cards wins!

The first time I played this was with my five-year and although he loved it he wasn’t as able to move as fast as you should with this game. I still think it’s a great game for kids his age and older because it got him looking at numbers in a different way. It’s also good for hand/eye coordination, strategy and decision-making. Later I played with some adult family members, the faster pace really made for a fun game!

Ratuki is available on Amazon for $9.99 so you really can’t go wrong. It’s a fun game with a low price and needs no batteries!  I definitely recommend it for family game night!

Happy Playing!

Guinness World Records Board Game Review

Guinness’s World Records Board Game by Haywire Group, priced at $29.99 on Amazon may just hold the world record for games within a game! Seriously, this game has a LOT going on!

There are four types of cards:

250 Trivia Challenge cards, 125 Who Am I? cards, 20 World Record Challenge cards and 5 House Records Challenge cards.

Each one of these cards is represented on the game board – when you land on one of these squares you perform the challenge. Here are some examples of the different challenges in the game:

Trivia Challenge: Another player reads the question and the multiple choice answers – “Charlie Bell set a record by moving over 37lbs of maggots in one hour how?” If you answer correctly you get a token. (By the way the answer is “with his mouth”…EW!) The trivia challenge cards also have Fun Facts at the bottom!

World Record Challenge: With this challenge you read about a world record such as the most jumping jacks done in one minute. You then have to try to do as many jumping jacks as you can in 30 seconds …if you can do 50% of the world record then you claim the Worlds Record Certificate (until another person completes the World Record Challenge). There are 20 different World Records to beat!

Who Am I? Challenge – These cards have pictures on them and you have to try to guess what World Record it is. For example one card has a picture of a man twirling pizza dough – the record is for largest spun pizza base. If you guess correctly you get 2 tokens.

House Record Challenge – This challenge is my favorite. It reminds me of that new game show “Minute to Win It”. One example is the poker chip challenge – You hold a stack of ten chips 3 inches from the table and drop each chip trying to touch the previously dropped chip. If you get a cluster of 8 chips (all touching) than you collect 3 tokens!

The first player to receive 20 Tokens and have the Guinness World Records Certificate wins!

To preform some of the challenges you’ll need other objects that come with game –

100 tokens, 52 Playing Cards, 10 Chips, 10 Marbles, 6 Pawns, Guinness World Record Certificate, Dry Erase Marker, Dry Erase Brag Board, Rope, Domino Set, Die, Sand Timer and Game Board.

This game is intended for kids and adults 8 and up! If you’re not into games that have you sitting around moving your game piece and you’d rather be up moving around this game is for you! There are trivia questions, physical challenges and tons of fun!!

Happy Playing!
