Nintendo 3DS: Gabrielle’s Ghostly Groove

Just in time for Halloween comes a great title for the Nintendo 3DS. It’s called Gabrielle’s Ghostly Groove. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I preordered this title because lately the Nintendo DS games have been hit or miss for my kids. I thought this would make a great Halloween surprise instead of tons of candy and at $29.99, much cheaper than a dentist! The story behind Gabrielle’s Ghostly Groove all starts when she sneezes out her soul. (Not sure how or why this happens, but none the less it does!) In order for her to regain her soul, she must dance in time to the beat of music. You slide and tap to the rhythm and it gradually gets harder the further you get in the game. The tunes are really catchy and I caught myself humming to them even when I wasn’t playing! There is a variety of mini-games to play, which I found quite enjoyable and unique.

I by no means am an experienced Nintendo 3DS player, but found the controls simple enough that even the youngest “gamers” could catch on easily enough. The graphics are quite cute and Gabrielle seems to come to life on the screen with an almost detectable personality of her own. You can also earn rewards for achievements and collect items and outfits for Gabrielle. This is a concept that I think little fashionistas will find appealing. The recommended age is 7+ plus because of the 3D effects but you can turn off the 3D and play it in 2D mode.

This is a Halloween gift for my 4-year-old daughter, I’m quite comfortable with her playing it, and positive she will think its SPOOKtacular!
