SEPTEMBER 28, MILWAUKIE, OR—As part of the Marvel Syrocos program that debuted at San Diego Comic-Con International in July, it is announced today that Dark Horse will be releasing another exclusive Spider-Man statue for New York Comic Con!
New York Comic Con attendees will have a very significant opportunity to acquire a special statue released just for the show. Much like the previously released and long-sold-out SDCC exclusive, a very limited number of this statuette is being offered. It is packaged in the same litho-printed tin box that is the hallmark of the Dark Horse Syrocos, and is destined to be a bona fide hot item, both at the show and far beyond the exhibit hall. It will be sold at the normal retail price of $49.99, with a limit of four per customer.
“We wanted to evoke New York with our very special exclusive Spider-Man,” said Dark Horse’s VP of Product Development, David Scroggy. “Unfortunately, space constraints made a rooftop water tower or fire escape impossible, but we still hope fans can sense the city in this piece.”
The Marvel Syrocos program kicked off earlier this month with two alternating series: Classic Marvel Characters and the Fantastic Four. This new line will be deliberately different than the common modern Marvel collectible sculpture, with features like a rougher surface texture, visible seam lines, and other slightly distressed aspects, such as the method of paint application.

Both releases are based on best-selling Scholastic books written by Joanna Cole and illustrated by Bruce Degen. Disney – Top 10 FamilyFun T.O.Y. Award Winners for 2011

September 26, 2011, The editors at Disney FamilyFun magazine today announced their 20th annual Toy of the Year (T.O.Y.) Award winners, which were narrowed down from a pool of more than 300 entries after extensive evaluation by parent and child testers across the country. Published in FamilyFun’s November issue, on stands October 18th, the top 30 toys of the holiday season were selected as T.O.Y. Award winners for their innovation, durability, play value, safety – and, of course, fun factor. While notable toy manufacturers like Mattel, LEGO, LeapFrog, and Razor made the list, hidden gems from independent, smaller companies are also winners — a hallmark of the FamilyFun awards.
