My 15 year old son can be quite the challenge come gift giving time. He’s outgrown conventional toys, but there is still a little bit of kid left in him! Enter Nanoblock!
These new Japanese building block sets are distributed in the United States by Ohio Art. They are a micro sized building blocks providing a greater challenge than typically sized blocks! The added bonus is once assembled, the finished product is small enough to display on a shelf! No need to disassemble and store away.
Our first experience with Nanoblock began with the Taj Mahal (retail $14.99) and the Pig (retail $7.99) both purchased at our local ToysRUs.
The Taj Mahal has over 400 pieces and a finished size of approximately 3x3x2.75″. The Pig has over 100 pieces and a finished size of approximately 1.5x3x1.5″.
Don’t let their small size fool you! These sets kept my son occupied for a long time given the large number of pieces.
Given the tiny size of the pieces, they are more challenging than conventional sized interlocking building blocks, however my son said they connected together very well. He was extremely pleased with this purchase and the Eiffel Tower, Castle and Kinkakuji Temple Sets are all on his Christmas list!
Nanoblock sets retail from $7.99 – $14.99 and are available at Amazon and ToysRUs. There are currently two lines -the Sites To See series and the Mini series – a variety of animals. They are recommended for ages 8 and up.
Nanoblock receives a huge thumbs up!
